Living at Geneseo

CLIMATE
The climate in Geneseo has four distinctive seasons.

Fall has mild temperatures ranging from +5C to +17C. The dramatic beauty of the changing colors of the leaves on the trees brings many tourists to the area from all over North America.

In winter, temperatures typically range from -6C to +2C. Winter is a time of unique snow sports! Students enjoy the ski slopes near campus, and cheering for Geneseo's Ice Hockey Team on campus.

Spring brings warm rains with temperatures ranging from +4C to +15C. The campus comes alive with fragrant flowers, and beautiful blossoming trees!

Summer is short and hot! Temperatures rise to +20C or +25C. Some students enjoy the many festivals in Geneseo and Rochester. Others take advantage of the numerous golf courses in the area and the nearby finger lakes.

Each season, students may experience a variety of activities, from snow skiing and ice skating in the winter to golf and water sports in the summer.

AN IDEAL SETTING

Geneseo is located in an ideal educational setting.  The campus is in a small village of 7,000 residents that has a tradition of friendship and community.  The beautiful countryside provides an appealing and safe environment for student life, while nearby cities provide opportunities for cultural and professional experiences.

From the campus, it is a ninety-minute drive to Niagara Falls, one of the true "Wonders of the World."  Toronto, Canada is a three-hour drive to the north.

New York City, home to world famous theatre, museums, shops and restaurants is a 6 hour drive from Geneseo (512km). Geneseo offers bus trips from the campus to New York City and back during the Thanksgiving and Winter vacations.

Rochester, the third largest city in New York State, is a thirty-minute drive from campus.  Rochester ranks in the top ten U.S. cities for international business activity.  A range of corporations – Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, high-tech software companies, and public accounting firms – routinely hire Geneseo students as interns.

A free shuttle bus service transport students from the campus to the Rochester theatre district, music venues, and shopping malls every weekend.
